Game Development or Programming

Game programming requires substantial skill in software engineering as well as specialization in one or more of the following areas, which overlap heavily to create a game: simulation, computer graphics, artificial intelligence, physics, audio programming, and input. For massively multiplayer online games, additional areas, such as network programming and database programming are often included. Though often engaged in by professional game programmers, many novices may program games as a hobby. Professional game development usually begins with a game design, which itself has several possible origins. Occasionally the game development process starts with no clear design in mind, but as a series of experiments.

Programmers are often required to produce prototypes of gameplay ideas and features. A great deal of prototyping may take place during pre-production, before the design document is complete, and may help determine what features the design specifies.

Prototypes are developed quickly with very little time for up-front design and mostly act as a proof of concept or to test ideas. They are not expected to work flawlessly, but are developed to try out new, sometimes exotic, ideas.

Game Development or Programming

A game programmer is a game engineer, programmer, or computer scientist who primarily develops codebases for video games or related software, such as game development tools. Game programming has many specialized disciplines, all of which fall under the umbrella term of "game programmer".

Today making games are easy as compared to decades ago. Now to become game programmer or developer is easy and no specific graduation or pre-skill set required. There are many tools which automate the games u want to develop or in today’s day now game engines like Unreal, Unity, and Cryengine has changed the way the games are made. Even making crossplatform games are easier and less time consuming.

Game Prototype

A prototype is an early sample, model, or release of a product built to test a concept or process or to act as a thing to be replicated or learned from. It is a term used in a variety of contexts, including semantics, design, electronics, and software programming.

Creating a Concept Sketch is the first step toward turning your idea into reality is getting it down on paper. The concept of prototype psychology is closely related to schema in psychology. Linguistically, the word “prototype” is used for something original — an original form of something that serves as a standard. Prototypes are influenced by many factors including one's language, social background, and cultural background.

Prototypes are generally used to test an idea in an existing system or before a real system is established. The goal of the prototype is to prove whether the game that will also be in the final will work together as expected.
